Although small amounts of alcohol consumption may not cause your health any damage, drinking large amounts can have harmful effects on your body and eyes. Consuming large amounts of liquor can cause problems with your vision and overall health. Overall visual performance is altered since drinking impairs brain functions. You may experience blurred or double vision due to weakened eye muscle coordination. Alcohol also effects the speed at which your Iris dilates and constricts, therefore someone driving under the influence can't adapt to on-coming head lights as fast as they normally should. People who drink and smoke can develop optic neuropathy, damage to the optic nerve.
